Gender-Affirming Treatment

A 2019 study found that 0 minors under the age of 13 received gender-affirming surgery, with very few performed on 13-17 year olds (of those, 80% were conducted on cisgender (non-trans) boys (mostly for breast reduction). (Herman, Flores, & O'Neill)

29% of trans people will attempt suicide during their lives. Hormone therapy is shown to positively reduce this rate (Kohnepoushi, et al.)

In trying to discredit Gender-Affirming Care, the state of Utah (Nov. 2024 report) started a systematic review of Gender-Affirming Medical Treatments and their impact. Their own 1,051 page report found that:

There is substantial evidence of the impact of Gender Affirming Medical Treatments. Their review found 277 studies to examine, including 230 primary clinical studies reporting on at least 28,056 pediatric patients around the world (p. 90). ​

Evidence shows that Gender Affirming Medical Treatments are effective for improving mental health and psychosocial outcomes. Furthermore, the treatments are shown to be safe in terms of changes to bone density, cardiovascular risk, metabolic changes, and cancer (p. 90).

Medical Detransitioning

A 2022 survey with 84,170 adult respondents found that only "9% had gone back to living as their sex assigned at birth at least for a little while at some point in their lives...due predominantly to challenges related to social acceptance"

Only 0.36% of medically transitioned respondents chose to return to their sex assigned at birth because gender transition was not for them

98% of respondents on hormone therapy affirmed that their gender-affirming hormone therapy made them more satisfied with their lives
